I travel 130 miles each way to work.

I take approximately 2 hours door to door.

I live in the East Midlands of England near the Wash and travel in to London daily.

My average working day is 10 hours which can be extended dependent on the workload (I’ll let you decide for yourself what I do for a career) I can be out of the house for upwards of 18 hours a day.

I am constantly tired, many times have fallen asleep on the train and woke myself up by snoring or more disconcertingly, dribbling.

I get headaches regularly, largely from a broken sleep pattern and my reliability on caffeine is to put it mildly, excessive

And now Corona virus has changed the dynamic even further and made things far more challenging.

BUT…

This is not a tale of woe.

And I am not unique.

This is a lesson in how commuting interminable distance can teach resilience, even during this pandemic.

So what are the lessons that can be taught:

ADAPTATION

Improvise, adapt and overcome as the saying goes. Not so easy when your train is 45 mins late and you’ve had three hours…
